Buying silica sand from Jordan

Answers to the questions buyers ask us most: our grades, our data, ordering and shipping. Every figure names its source and date. If your question isn't here, ask us.

Where can I buy silica sand in Jordan?
From us directly: we quarry and screen silica sand at Al-Quwayra, about 70 km north of Aqaba, and sell from our office in Amman. Call or WhatsApp +962 79 721 3560, email info@al-ahlyasilica.com, or use the quote form. In Jordan we deliver by the truckload; for export the minimum order is one 20-ft container.
How much does silica sand cost per ton?
We don't publish a price list, because the price depends on the grade, the quantity, the packaging, the destination and the Incoterm. Send a request with those details and we will quote a price to your site or port, usually within 24 hours on working days.
Where is silica sand found in Jordan?
Mostly in southern Jordan, in the Disi sandstone formation. Studies by Jordan's Natural Resources Authority describe deposits at Ras an-Naqab, north of Aqaba, and at Qa' ad-Disi, east of Al-Quwayra and north of Wadi Rum (as cited in our company profile, 2026). Our own quarry is at Al-Quwayra, in Aqaba Governorate.
What is silica sand used for?
Silica sand is a raw material for construction, glass, foundry, water treatment, ceramics and many other industries. Our grades are supplied today for concrete and construction, for plaster and mortars, and for ceramics and fillers. Glass, filtration, foundry and sports-turf uses need grade-by-grade data, which we are preparing.
Which grades and sizes do you supply? Can you make custom sizes?
Six standard grades, all screened dry: 0–3 mm, 0–2 mm, 0–1 mm, 0–800 µm, 0–600 µm and 0.1–0.6 mm. We can screen other size ranges on request: tell us the range and the quantity.
What are the SiO₂ and Fe₂O₃ contents? Is the sand washed or dried?
For the 0.1–0.6 mm grade, the typical values are SiO₂ 99 % and Fe₂O₃ 0.02 % (XRF, DIN 51001; company technical data sheet, 2026; typical, not guaranteed). One sample tested by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources showed SiO₂ 98.60 % and Fe₂O₃ 0.066 % (report 89/4/2019/CH38, April 2019). For other grades, a Certificate of Analysis is available on request. The sand is screened dry; it is not washed or kiln-dried today.
Is your sand suitable for glass making? Which glass types?
We don't offer a glass grade yet. Glass makers set limits on iron (Fe₂O₃), alumina and grain size, and our per-grade data for glass is not complete. Our figures so far: typical Fe₂O₃ 0.02 % on the 0.1–0.6 mm grade (company technical data sheet, 2026) and Fe₂O₃ 0.066 % on one 2019 sample (MEMR). Send us your specification, and we will send a sample for your own trial.
Do your filter grades meet EN 12904 or AWWA B100?
We haven't tested any grade against EN 12904 or AWWA B100, so we don't offer a filter grade yet. Filter sand needs a narrow size band, a low uniformity coefficient and an acid-solubility test. If you need filter sand, send your specification and we will tell you what we can screen and test.
Which grade fits tile adhesives, grouts and dry-mix mortars?
Factory dry-mix products need kiln-dried sand, and our sand is not dried today, so we don't offer it for them yet. A dryer is part of our planned expansion. For mortars and plasters mixed on site, our 0–2 mm, 0–1 mm, 0–800 µm, 0–600 µm and 0.1–0.6 mm grades fit.
Which sand suits padel courts and artificial turf?
We don't offer a sports-turf grade yet. Infill and top-dressing sands need washed sieving, low silt and clay, and grain-shape tests, which our grades haven't had. If you supply sports surfaces, send your specification and we can send a sample for testing.
What is your minimum order and production capacity?
The minimum order is one 20-ft container (about 25 t) for export, or one truckload in Jordan. Our capacity is about 20 t a day of screened grades (company profile, 2026). For a regular monthly supply, tell us the volume and we will confirm a schedule.
What packaging do you offer?
Jumbo bags (bulk bags). We load about 25 t into a 20-ft container. Local deliveries go by truck. If you need a specific bag size or a liner, mention it in your request.
Which Incoterms do you offer, and from which port?
EXW (our plant, Al-Quwayra), FCA or FOB Aqaba, CPT or CFR (your port), CIP or CIF (your port), and DAP (your site, by truck), all under Incoterms 2020. Sea shipments leave from the Port of Aqaba. For trucks to Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and Iraq, we usually quote DAP.
How long from order to loading?
We confirm the lead time with each quotation, because it depends on the grade, the quantity and our order book. Sea transit times and routing are quoted per shipment.
Can I get a sample?
Yes. Samples are available on request: tell us the grade, the delivery address and what you will test it for.
Which documents come with each shipment?
A commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin and the bill of lading or truck waybill. A Certificate of Analysis and third-party inspection are available on request.
What is the HS code for silica sand?
2505.10, 'Silica sands and quartz sands' (Harmonized System, WCO). In Jordan's tariff the line is 2505.10.000.00. Your customs broker confirms the code that applies in your country.
Is silica sand hazardous? How should it be handled?
The hazard is the fine dust: it contains respirable crystalline silica, and breathing that dust over long periods can damage the lungs. Keep dust down, use extraction where sand is handled dry, and wear suitable respiratory protection. Our sand is not for use as an abrasive blasting medium. We don't publish a safety data sheet yet; ask us if your import needs one.
What is the difference between silica sand and quartz sand?
Quartz is the mineral; silica (silicon dioxide, SiO₂) is its chemical compound. Silica sand is sand made mostly of quartz grains, so the two names usually describe the same material. Some suppliers use 'quartz sand' for higher-purity or processed grades. What matters for a buyer is the analysis and the grading.
Which payment terms do you accept?
Payment terms are agreed with each contract. Tell us your preferred terms, for example bank transfer or a letter of credit, when you request a quote.
